Karen Gaffney’s Tahoe Challenge! I did it!! I swam the 9-miles across Lake Tahoe!! Without your support and cheers from afar, I would not have made it…thank you very much for your support!! Below are a couple of links that you must see!! This article is from the Sierra Sun, a local Tahoe paper from Truckee, CA. Emma Garrard wrote this article and took all of the pictures. Emma put a lot of hard work into this story… she was up at 4am to meet us in time to catch the boat, she used up most of her camera battery using her flash to get the attention of other boats in our party when trying to meet at the start of the swim-Deadman’s point. Emma, being a tri-athlete, was able to swim with me part of the way…taking pictures with her underwater camera the whole way… and as you can see by looking at the pictures, she did not miss much of my swim! All of her hard work paid off…you must see this! Will has put SO much work into making the best videos and taking the finest pictures. He has gone so far to get the best footage of me…. he worked to receive his scuba dive certification, so he could take under-water footage while I was swimming. He spent much time away from his family to spend time with my family to interview and film us during my training. He went on many training swims with me, getting footage the whole way! I never got lonely in the water! After the swim he even hired a pilot to fly him around Lake Tahoe to film the distance of my swim from the air! Will will be adding to his website as he goes through his footage…so be sure to keep checking back for updates…he will continue to add to his website as he goes through all of his footage taken over the past few weeks.
